Abstract

A 21-year-old young man was admitted to our clinic with dermatitis of the left eyebrow begun one month after the beautician did touch up the line of the eyebrow. Physical examination (Fig. 1) showed squamous and crusted lesions in the eyebrow region with healthy hairs and edema of the upper eyelid. Cultures grew T. rubrum var. granular (Fig. 3, 4) The clinical features and the laboratory findings led to diagnose superficial tinea of the eyebrow region and to prescribe medicines for fungal infections. Case 2. A woman of 32 years with a history (same beautician, same period of time) and clinical features -erythematous and squamous lesions of the right eyebrow (Fig. 2) - comparable to case n. 1. The two young people were not friends, but she knew about a guy in his neighborhood with a history like hers. Also in this case, the causative agent was T. rubrum var. granular.
