Abstract

You can see a 9-month-old girl with a nail disorder affecting only the middle finger of her right hand, which appeared about 1 month ago. The nail had a 2 mm wide, longitudinal ridge extending from the matrix up to the distal edge. A careful observation showed a line of 1 mm in diameter, flat papules on the dorsal surface of the second and third phalanx of the same finger (arrows). The final diagnosis was lichen striatus with nail matrix involvement. No treatment was prescribed and the parents were informed that first would disappear the cutaneous papules and after about six months the nail alterations starting from the proximal margin.
