Abstract

Hemangioma and vessel malformation can be similar in the first months of life. However, their clinical course is very different. Hemangioma is present at birth in 50% of cases, can get evident in the first weeks of life, later on grows during the first months, sometimes significantly, and finally, towards the end of the first year, starts to regress with a very slow process going on for many years. Vessel malformation is always present at birth, does not grow anymore during the first months and does not regress in the subsequent years. On the other hand, vessel malformation very slowly, but continuously and progressively grows, sometimes significantly.
