The woman was suffering for 2 years from
Crohn’s disease treated with infliximab since May 2009
and azathioprine since May 2010.
In her past medical history there was also an allergic
contact dermatitis of the hands, with sensitization to
carbamix and cobalt.
The physical examination revealed on the right
thumb nail a break of the nail plate on the proximal
and ulnar edge with irregular and scaling bed and distal
onychosis in the absence of any skin alteration of the
hand and other sites (Fig. 1). The mycological culture
grew Candida rugosa leading to the final diagnosis of
onychomycosis. A topical treatment with 5% amorolfine
hydrochloride nail polish 2 times a week was prescribed
for 5 months. }, number={1}, journal={European Journal of Pediatric Dermatology}, author={Chieco, P.}, year={2011}, month={Mar.}, pages={ 53} }
